Suspicious character

How do you see suspicious character personnel?

If you know that a person is behaving weirdly in the office and you have enough reason suspects that person, then you should act on it. This is not considered as whistle blowing and you may actually be saving your workplace by doing so. Offices rely on their employees to watch their own environment and also report any suspicious behavior by employees. However, there is a right way of doing it. Every workplace will have supervisors. You should directly contact the supervisor and let them know about it. They will take the appropriate actions. You can also contact the human relations manager or the ombudsmen and report the incident along with the reason as to why suspect the person. You can also contact the regulatory agency or a relationship manager. Discussing it with other employees may not be the best strategy and also you might be putting the person on guard. Always be discrete about how you bring the matter to attention. Remember, you are also exposing yourself by doing so. Any illegal activity at workplace that defies the workplace ethics is not allowed. Also, if it is putting other workers at risk, then it is all the more essential to report the matter. This is not considered as whistle blowing. You are not trying to bring others attention to the matter. Rather you are trying to bring the right person’s attention. Also the possibility is that only you might have noticed this suspicious behavior of the person and only you know about it. Under such circumstances withholding the information may not be a good idea.

Suspicious behavior can arise in many situations, and can manifest in many ways. There are a few signs that you can learn to recognize in a suspicious person, whether through their looks or through their actions, that can help you determine whether or not the individual needs to be reported to authorities. Familiarize yourself with these activities, so that you can recognize them immediately if they happen in your presence:

– A person parking their vehicle in an unusual place, like a public park or in front of a school, for an extended period of time.
– A person, whether in a vehicle or not, alone and taking pictures or video of people in a public or private place, especially if there are a lot of children in the area.
– A person in a vehicle who slows down and seems to be watching others in the area, and/or continues to drive by the area repeatedly.
– A person who appears to be paranoid or making strange and sudden movements for no apparent reason.
– A person in a parking lot who is moving from car to car, peeking inside or trying to open the doors.
– A person in a neighborhood, moving from house to house, peeking inside or attempting to open doors.
– A person running for seemingly no reason, or as if they are being chased.
– A person who is holding or dragging another person or child, who is screaming or appears as if they are trying to get away.

There may be plausible reasons for why suspicious person is acting the way they are; this is why you need to assess the setting around you before you jump to the conclusion that the activity needs to be reported. For instance, a man with a camera attached to his shoe taking pictures of young girls at a park is activity that should definitely be reported.

In which behavior you have identified the suspicious character suspect?

Besides objects that are suspicious, we need to deal with people who are suspicious. In this case, suspicious generally means one of three things.

Strange behavior

The first and most obvious suspicious person is someone behaving strangely. Strangely may mean that someone is doing something unexpected, such as working in an area where work is not generally done, or it can mean that you open the door at your local Stop and Rob and notice that all the customers are standing still, which could well be a clue that you shouldn’t go in while the place is being robbed. Or it could mean that you observe, as did ferry operators in San Francisco, someone described as a Middle Eastern man who boarded a ferry to Alcatraz, but did not leave the boat when it reached the island. Instead, the man videotaped boat traffic and used a stopwatch to time the route. A suspicious person can also mean someone whom you don’t know somewhere that only people you do know should be. Thus, if you see a stranger working at a terminal in your office, you should ask who they are, what they are doing, and tell someone about it. As an example, one company hired us to test their security. We observed the people going in and out. We then dressed much as they did, walked into the facility, signed onto their computer system using the default system passwords which had never been removed, and sent ourselves a lot of their critical customer data. Nobody asked who we were or what we were doing.
