How does a report differ from an assignment?

Reports How does a report differ from an assignment? Assignments and reports have very different structures. The text of an assignment should flow and develop ideas logically, whereas reports are broken into discrete sections. Reports use headings and numbers (decimal notation) to identify sections. Reports have a table of contents, present research and have recommendations for action.               Structure of a report                How to approach writing a report               Covering letter The structure of a report Unfortunately, like everything else, reports vary in structure, and it is important to check with your lecturer what exactly is required of you. However, the following is a basic list of report sections, some of which may not be required by your lecturer.            Title page            Table of Contents            Executive Summary            Introduction            Main Body            Conclusion            Recommendations            Reference List            Appendices How to approach writing a report It is most logical to write up the body of the report first, then the conclusions, the recommendations (which are tied closely to the conclusions), then the Introduction and finally the Executive Summary, as an abbreviated version of the whole report. The purpose of each section is as follows: Title page Title of report, your name, place report is published, date, name of organisation/course/unit the report is written for.     Table of Contents Indicates sections in report with page numbers.            List of main headings and subheadings using decimal notation.              Executive Summary This provides an overview of the whole report. For a fairly short report (about 3000-5000 words), the abstract should be about 10% of the total word length, as a guide. In much longer reports, it could be several pages in length. This section is often the first/only part of the report read. It must be very clear in its content, so the reader does not need to skim through the whole report to see if it contains information of interest. If you are asked to write an Executive Summary, this means that you need to write a report with an Executive Summary section included. An Executive Summary should outline the following:            Objectives of the report            Scope of the report (narrow down the topic)            Information sources used (mention any limitations)            Findings of the research            Recommendations            Conclusion Introduction Some of the content will be similar to the Executive Summary: Introduces the reader to the subject matter.            Provides purpose and objectives of the report.            States terms of reference (what the research set out to cover).            Information sources used (mention any limitations).            Indicates general make-up of the report.            (Decimal notation starts at the Introduction. i.e. 1.0). Main Body Describes method/procedure            Presents findings/data in detail            Analyses, interprets, evaluates results   Conclusion Conclusions drawn from the evidence and discussion provided in the body of the report.   Recommendations Detailed statement of actions recommended by the author to overcome problems mentioned in the body and highlighted in the conclusion. Recommendations are usually presented in dot point form.  For example; it is recommended that:            A staff induction program be developed to familiarize all new staff with company policies and procedures.            A mentoring system be established…….. (Some larger reports make recommendations all the way through the report, rather than have a separate recommendations section) Reference List            Lists sources referred to in the text of the report.            Using the referencing style required by your lecturer, usually Harvard in CBS. (see Referencing) Annexures            Provides supporting data which is too bulky or complicated for the text. For example; statistics, maps, questionnaires etc. Credit:ivythesis.typepad.com

Price Elasticity Scenario Analysis Report

Scenario Analysis Report   Ideally, price is one important factor to determine that Will’s plans are successful enough, upon combating on some of the issues raised in transforming books digitally and the other way around. The effect of revenue where there is price changed can bring positive as well as negative remarks on Will’s business as customer’s behavior are changing but, they will patronize low price services rather than choosing great value. The revenue of Will Bury can center on the upside motion if more demands from readers and customers are seen for instance from the price of per title, now the potential price will be per title which will affect the revenue if there is short demand and more supply to offer thus, affecting pure gains of profit. The impeding effect of the revenue linking to law of diminishing returns (McConnell and Brue, 2004 p. 6-8), there can also be a downside motion for revenue if not well supported by demand elasticity as well as of price as the revenue makes up the prime part of Will plan as there yields through money, which Will might gain through selling his services in certain year.   Thus, Will may influence the volume of sale, but to large extent it is limited by some of production capacity and demand. Prices are outcome of the moving of demand and supply and are affected by structure of business; Will Bury can influence them only to some extent, the variety of digitalized book copies and other goods lies in Will’s hand so, the revenue may be affected by demand optimization. There is effect if the raise of revenue does increase volume of sales and prices, improving technical and customer service. Indeed, it is not common that, the change in price is not attended by demanded quantity changed of Will’s services, the change in price will be followed by no effect on demanded quantity of goods, imposing certain relationship between change in revenue and change in prices of products, increasing the demand, as well as the application of market mix as necessary.   Measuring Demand Elasticity (Arc Method)     The above graph shows an estimated elasticity of demand that can be applied for Will Bury. There has to be demand management from Will allowing him to realize such market condition linking into the price demand elasticity. There allows that the demand can go up to as much as 500 titles over which there is price change of 10 over 15 before concerning another change as there allows the measure of quantity responsiveness from where there is demand to change the price. Aside, the recognizing ratio of such change percentage in quantity of Will’s products into the demand assimilation of price change relating to volume of Will’s sales. The estimation of the demand will be of certain accuracy as the change in the revenue is being known due to price change. Another instance, if the price of Will’s products will be up by 1 % and being of sales result falling from 1.5 % then, price elasticity of demand for the products is approximately -1.5%/1% = -1.5 respectively. Amiably, the graph cannot be used for larger changes as there require more complex modeling than what is being shown in the arc. The estimates  can be symmetrical, meaning that the revenue rise from price increase, which are being subject to forecasting error and are dependent on sample data.  The estimates are intended to be indicative only and are not of formal grounds.   McConnell, C. and Brue,  S. Destination Analysis Report: The Economic Importance of Tourism Industry

THE ECONOMIC IMPORTANCE OF TOURISM INDUSTRY         Tourism plays a major importance in economic development of a particular country whether promotion of International and local tourism the impact of such activities is basically showcasing the country’s finest possession and natural habitat this can encourage groups of people all across the world to trust such countries. Tourism promotes culture and traditions and interchanging information system, the progressive tourism can also promote people and their economic activities. Upon employing such promotion it can also encourage migration and foreign investors which has been an economic core foundation of most countries in Asia, Africa and the Pacific. Countries in USA, Europe, and Australia are encouraged to visit foreign nationalities, they are offered great deals to put on their companies abroad and transact business.        Usually the foreign countries may conduct research on the countries they would like to invest in to, if they find it viable and pleasant they would build an empire of business to other countries and hire people to work on their company and this has been the focal point of tourism of most countries to establish a capital business and labor sustenance. Attracting investors is not that easy since a sponsored country must prove that the tourist will be satisfied in the atmosphere and destinations that they would invest in. Foreign investors must also comply with different cultural diversity and beliefs of the people. They may also need to study the governing law so that they will not be charge form irregular or unauthorized business transaction.       Tourist who simply visits other countries for relaxation will likely visit traditionally the beautiful and historic places. This form of tourism involvement must showcase the country’s finest location that will attract customer’s satisfaction and enjoy the day with an extravagant visitation. This can highly attract visitor and promote a healthy multi-cultural adaptation of culture. Therefore the impression of the foreigners would be pleasantly acceptable to return back in time. Whether the goal of tourism is to encourage investors or foreign visitor they both contribute largely to Gross Domestic Production of the country because of the dollar production it can exhibit.          In Australian community particularly in Sydney upon airport arrival, foreign nationalities will likely to experience a variety of travel convenience and shopping and dining options plus a strong aviation security conditions are expected in their area, there are also nearby hotels that they can stay during arrival, ample parking space for visitors, including dollar or foreign exchange rate for people who might run out of money. This and more should be the features of most highly advanced airport destination since it includes almost all the visitors ever needed and therefore represents a good manifestation of culture and high technology services to foreign people and therefore attract them to come back for more.       The present condition may also influence the travel preferences of tourist that distract the travelers to visit such countries especially during natural calamity or domestic violence happening around the countries. The emerging war in Middle East may affect other countries from visiting, while tourist in Japan find their way going back home due to the recent Tsunami and Nuclear Meltdown that can endanger people. SARS in China and NH1N1 in Mexico reduced tourist to visit their countries. The following natural disasters may also affect the present economic condition of the country due to low production, foreign investors withdrawal of funds and labor constraint therefore reducing the Gross Natural Production due to low dollar maximization rate and less import and export product exchange, some companies may even found economic and business related problems due to non performance and low sales. But if a country has been clearly accepted in International community due to effective tourism, it manifest satisfied clients to give them confident upon investment.       In mainland China where there is a strict compliance in administering documents of travelers of incoming and outgoing tourist has not created much influence to reduce visitors and investors in their country thought the visa issues has been limiting visitors to temporary uses of tourist visits from 6 months to a year time. Tourist have also experience a very  strict implementation of rules that they are not allowed to enter such materials and therefore may not be admitted to work or enter the country, sometimes they are even punished by law that leads to conviction or black listing.       The economic importance of tourism is not new to every country’s since tourism has been practiced during the earliest time, our ancestors would visit other countries using ships or boats to trade or barter goods and services that they can use. And in present times tourism has been practiced entirely around the world, in fact in countries such as France, Thailand, Philippines, Italy, Spain, Egypt and Africa rely on tourism due to the massive production of dollars collected to foreigners. Tourism has been the largest dollar revenue earners from these countries that supplies and balances the economic standard among nation.          Credit:ivythesis.typepad.com
