As we enter in this modern world, lots of gadgets come out in the market where people are very interested to have these gadgets no matter how much it costs. Many people buy these gadgets for the reason that it will uplift our way of standard of living in a way that it makes our work easier and more accurate. More and more advance technologies emerge this time for the reason also that many new things have been discovered. Through the discoveries of new things, many advance and hi-tech technology have been invented for the reason that these things are more complicated to do than before thus it needs appropriate gadgets in order to solve this problem. The companies of these gadgets find ways to make people conveys their product by advertising and broadcasting it to the different television network. But recently, advertising of ads in the internet are very popular in this generation that is why lots of strategies and fancy gimmicks are already fad in the internet world.  In this article, it covers the new trend and updates in gaining of information in different areas of internet world and its advantage that the people are going to get. Podcasting is a newly invented strategy of gaining information in more convenient way. Podcasting is transmitting of audio format into any kinds of digital gadgets such as i-pods and any portable media players. What makes podcasting more interesting is that, information can be saved, replayed and listened by the users at their convenience. Convenience in a sense that podcasting can let the users get in touch the content of their media player or any gadgets whenever they want to at any place. Another thing about this podcasting, it doesn’t really need that a user has an i-pod or any portable media player for this matter. Podcasting is a newest form in delivering media through online. Where you can create your own audio files and upload it through online where the users have access in it via internet. In this case the users become an instant producer to his own work and advertise it through internet where the subscribers are able to download to their ipods, cell phones and any other portable media players and use it at any convenient place and time. It is also form of instant sending messaging to your friends, relatives loved ones. The good thing about this, is that the users are do not obliged or to visit the website just to purchase new tracks get their new audio messages they just use the podcast aggregator for subscriptions to feed their new messages.   Podcasting has many uses one of which is through communication. Communication in a sense that it can store data in a form of audio, as we all know audio is something that we can hear. Through this new invention we can give clearer instructions and share important messages to the users. In this case, lesser chances to misinterpret the messages being sent to recipient for the reason that the users can repeatedly play it anytime and any place they want. Through clearer information the relationship between individual will become closer and intimate where they can share everything with trust of one another. Podcasting is useful and perfect in establishing business because the users can easily their advertisements and produce their own work through online. As we all know that millions of people are fond of browsing internet and have accessed on it. In podcasting, it can post to the different websites where the users can easily activate it by downloading and uploading as well as the consumers. For instance, in podcasting the users can create a talk show in which they can introduce their product to the talk show where the talk show can be uploaded to the online and the costumers able to download it to their gadgets. In this situation the users as well as the customers can save their money, time and effort. In travel and tours, podcasting helps to track the location of the place and provide backgrounds of the place. The travelers or the tourists able to upload and download it via online where they can access it in their most convenient time. The directions, instructions, and guidelines are downloaded to their portable gadgets like ipods without visiting any websites it helps them track the location that are unknown and unfamiliar to them which they love to visit for their vacation purposes.  Podcasting is also helpful to those people, who have senses disorder. This disorder is pertaining to eyesight disorder and loss of hearing. It is helpful to them in a sense that it can easily download into Mp3 format that it can easily carry to anywhere they go. For instance, if a person is blind and this person is risk for injury and not all the time that there are persons always available at there side, to make this not to happen, the podcasting is helpful to this situation through downloading of instructions to the Mp3 the blind person will just listen to it and follow the instructions given. In this manner there will be fewer burdens to the patient as well as to their family members.               In our current trends of media invasion, podcasting is one of them. Podcasting has many reasons why people fond to subscribe this to their websites because for the reasons that there is no need for them to visit the websites just to download new sound tracks, cool new trends of hi-tech gadgets and many others in relation to newly invented gadgets and acquiring any information because in podcasting, it is the one who will deliver it. In dealing with podcasting, it has many benefits when it comes to advertising company and travel and tours. These two are somehow interconnected to each other because in travel and tours, in order for them to recognize by the tourists they must publish and advertise their company through the help of advertising company.  In this case podcasting has potential in helping and make the tourists become more interested of what they gain in podcasting in relation to their destinations they want to go with the aid of podcasting. Here are the twelve reasons why they become more interested about podcasting in traveling around the world. First, they become up-to-date the latest and new develop resort that suite for their vacation and up-to-date with the price and happenings to the place. Second, they can inquire information by interviewing any personnel in charge the place they want to go. Third, the convenience that what every tourist want because the information they want to know is directly delivered to their computers, mp3, ipods or any portable gadgets without any difficulties. Fourth, the tourists have the opportunity to select or choice the different destinations they want to know anywhere and any time they want. Seventh, the podcasts has reliable information and can share it to their relatives by sending it to them via online where many people become aware the information where they can testify if the information is true. Eighth, the tourists able to comment the place where the people in that place are the one who will answer their expectations about the place they want to go. In this case the tourists are able to get to know the people better and make them to adjust easy and make them safe in roaming around the place, in a sense that the community will help them guard and accompanied them in the place they want to go. Ninth, in podcast the tourist will become an instant tour guide because the podcasts send them an information about the place as well as the location of different breathtaking view found in that place.  Tenth, any type of person can travel around the world whether they have disorder because the podcasts send instructions and important guidelines in traveling and where they can able to listen it over and over again. Eleventh, even if they are away from home they can monitor their place through podcasting in a way that they can download any update to their place. Twelfth, they can record their experience in roaming that place where they can share it to their friends and relatives as well as to their self where they can view and listen it anytime they want.              With these benefits that they can get from podcasting it helps a certain place become more popular or well known to the tourists especially to the place that are known to be polluted and chaotic place where there hidden paradise is not yet discovered by foreign people. Through podcasting, it helps the place to be discovered and in that case they will able to share the beauty of the place and the goodness of the people living in it. In this case, it will help the place to restore the bad image that is used to be where it help their economy boost which they can proud of to the world. These place destinations is pertaining to the part of the world that belong to the third world countries like Africa, Philippines, India, Cuba, Lybia, North Korea and many other. In podcasting, it is believe that somehow it will help these countries to uplift their economy with the help of their breathtaking paradise which we believe that every place on this earth lays a beautiful creation of the God, which He distributed it to the different parts of the world. Conclusion             I conclude that every inventions that invented by the hand of man creates a difference within us, where it can bring good or bad to us. In podcasting, people adore this kind of invention because it brings goodness to the users than disaster to the people. One of the important highlights in podcasting is the convenience in it while accessing and using it. Convenience is what the people want in this busy world (where podcasting possess that) and it will not make them become busier in gaining and achieving more information which they need to know. Destination Planning and Development   Executive Summary               This paper discusses information about podcasting and its impact on the development of tourist destinations.  Also cited as part of podcast nature and potential, is its growing popularity on ebusinesses nowadays.  This chapter also discusses the mechanism of podcasting on how it works and its advantages.  Finally, several podcasting potentials are being mentioned that suggest ways for the development of destinations for tourists attraction.    Introduction               Podcasting is a combination of two words, “iPod” and “Broadcasting”.  It is the distribution of audio or video files, such as radio programs or music videos, over the Internet using either Really Simple Syndication (RSS) or Atom Syndication for listening on mobile devices and personal computers ().  Podcast is then described as web feed of audio or video files placed on the Internet for anyone to download or subscribe.              Podcasting is a term coined in 2004 along with the popularity of the RSS technologies in distributing audio content for listening on mobile devices and personal computers.  While it has been known in the year 2004, the RSS enclosure syndication technique had been used with video files since 2001.              (2005) simplified the definition of podcasting.  He said that Podcasting is the use of RSS news feeds to distribute information about MP3 audio files.  News feeds make it easy for listeners to discover new programming and automatically download it to a computer or portable media player.  (2005) then followed-up with a definition of podcast as a collection of audio files in MP3 format, represented by an RSS 2.0 news feed, that together make up a channel or show.  Nowadays, podcasts include personal audio blogs, public radio shows, advertainment podcasts, music programming, audio tour guides, audio books and a range of educational content.  In summing it up, Podcasting is a method of making audio files available online in a manner that allows software to automatically download the files for listening at the user’s convenience.                Along with Podcasting’s emergence as one of the major new Internet technologies for 2005, it is still yet adopted by most ebusinesses.  However, (2005) have cited several reasons that podcasting can be of great use to ebusinesses as a tool.  1)      Podcasts lower the threshold for publishing audio content 2)      Podcasts encourage two-way communication with listeners 3)      Podcasts extend the reach of Internet sites 4)      Podcasting can be used to increase the frequency of contact with customers 5)      Podcasts make audio files easy to find on the Internet Podcasts create a new channel for Web sites to communicate with customers.  For the reason that Podcasts are audio-based, they open up opportunities for companies to deliver audio-specific content, including music, speeches and radio-style shows.    Podcasting Advantages and Disadvantages Advantages ·          Users have full control over what they listen to and where and when they listen. ·          Audio files can be downloaded onto an MP3 player which students can take away and listen to in their own time.  ·          Podcasting provides the educator with another way of meeting students’ needs.     ·          Family members can access podcasts at home and keep up to date with what is going on the classroom.                Disadvantages  ·          Computers need sufficient bandwidth for downloading the MP3 audio files.  ·          Podcasting is not designed for two-way interaction or audience participation.  ·          Amateur podcasts do not have the same quality as professional broadcasts.  ·          Some initial training is needed ().        Podcasting Mechanism               Podcasting is adopting the version of push technology in the model of publish/subscribe in which the information provider chooses which files to offer in a feed and the subscriber chooses among available feed channels.              Podcasting is an automatic mechanism by which multimedia computer files are transferred from a server to a client which pulls down XML files containing the Internet addresses of the media files.  Generally, these files contain audio or video, but could be also images, text, PDF, or any file type.  A podcast is generally analogous to a recorded television or radio series.    Podcasting as an aid for destination development               There are wide ranges of potential technology investments to help modernize the legacy systems, streamline distribution that will add value for travel consumers in travel industry.  The challenge would then lies in identifying which emerging technologies would have potential to provide a competitive advantage for the industry with due consideration on its long-term potential to transform the industry.              In a research conducted by Ting-Chun Hsieh and company about the effects of emerging technologies on the travel, tourism and hospitality marketplace found that 71% of respondents indicated that data mining is currently important to their organization while technologies chosen least frequently as being currently important to respondents’ organizations were podcasting (4%), hybrid cell phones (8%) and virtual reality (10%).  Apparently, podcasting casts the least percentage for the simple reason that this technology is not widely known to travel organizations.  This would support (2005) on his paper about the podcasting awareness in the earlier statement.  However, experts, even the respondents, expected that those three least important technologies today would be more important in the next five years.  Several other technologies appear to take off including the RSS casting 45%.   Podcast Potentials               Initially, podcasting’s appeal is to allow individuals to distribute their own radio shows; but nowadays the system is increasingly used for many other reasons.  There are actually a lot of other reasons for the use of podcasting which range from Education purposes to Law enforcement and it has found its great use in the field of tourism.  In an interview done by Dr. Olivia Jenkins with travelers coming to Australia, Tourist destination images held by travelers before their trip were shown to have a remarkable impact on their behavior while in Australia and these images derived from tourist information literature as well as their country of origin.  This informs marketing agencies in Australia of the significance of particular visual icons that are central to the image of Australia which products are gained from the use of podcasting.  In Knoxville, Tennessee, a certain podcast is gaining popularity to the county with its impact on the local tourism.  It serves as the information center for visitors to learn more about what the community can offer them.  Additionally, podcasting will go beyond borders not only reaching the regional community but also the international audience.  Podcasting is good way for tourism businesses to distribute recorded audio or video on the Internet in advertising and providing information about the place.  Tourism businesses can create audio files with a small mp3 recorder and upload these files to the Web site thus providing a rich media experience for ideal guests.  In Canada, they have developed a tourism Web site as their excellent resource for tourism businesses.  Available in the Web site are the updated information relevant to Canada tourism businesses like newsletters and reports.  Perhaps the most dramatic use of podcasting comes along with what happened during the Hurricane that struck southern United States.  A travel site TripAdvisor provides information about the services available in the city restaurants and hotel openings for the travelers.  Ranked as number one tourist destination in the world, France has a solid progressive tourism.  The credit is also accounted to the tourist-attracting famous Tour de France that used podcasting to provide information for the visitors about the event.  Second to the list of the top tourist destination is Spain with its great use of podcasting as its tool in disseminating information and news about Spain.  The use of podcasting was being explained as part of the tourism boost in Spain.              Conclusion             Being the latest in internet technology, podcasting gains an increasing acceptance into the electronic world.  Though its desirable impact on ebusinesses is still to be expected and predicted due to its early stage of development, this new technology enormously help a lot of areas specially on the development of tourist destinations.  Despite the fact that it is still in the least important matter for the ebusiness organizations, such five-year prediction is believed to be realized as podcasting shows a lot of advantages even in PODCASTING in EDUCATION   In the continuing culture of modernization together with the process of globalization, everything goes digital or technology-based. Perhaps, the rapid growth of technological advancement in the society has brought people so much ease in all the things they do. Undeniably, everything is credited in the apparent advantage of human knowledge and technology. Technology refers to the equipment and techniques that are being used in managing and processing relevant information the most effective way possible ( 1991). It is important for various institutions in the society like the government, economy and businesses – whether small-scale or large-scale, academe and its related fields, and individuals to keep themselves updated to the latest trends so as to keep the competitive value of their products and services as well as their skills in the global market. Technology has always been a major means for creating new physical and human environments. It is possible to ask today whether technology will also destroy the global civilization that human beings have created ( 2000). Among the numerous and obvious trends that depicts the utilization of technologies is the involvement of its use in improving the traditional operations and machineries of most organizations and at the same time the technical skills of every individuals. These technological advancements have brought people especially those in the business world to utilize a strategy that would be helpful in enhancing the business value of any organization ( 2001). The intricacies of achieving business achievement through increased efficiency and competitiveness, combined with innovative applications of information technology (IT) has heightened the awareness of both IT and business managers towards more strategically oriented approaches for planning and management (1993). Similarly, learning through performance requires active discovery, analysis, interpretation, problem-solving, memory, and physical activity (2003).  The world we live in today and with all the new information and communications technology, it can be said that traditional practices of education particularly in teaching are being replaced with modern alternatives that are perceived to be more convenient and effective. Today, various phenomena affect almost all ways of living present in contemporary societies. It is a universal fact that many everyday chores are becoming more automated. With the commercialism of the Internet and the already wide acceptance and use of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) hardware and software, tasks that are difficult and stressful to perform before are now as easy as 1-2-3 or even A-B-C.  Proponents of the new technologies boast that these new systems will enable work to become faster and more accurate ( 2002). For many people who have access to websites, it opened a whole world of discovery for them. This is same as true with the process of learning as well as teaching. Now, there are different strategies and technological applications that are integrated in the traditional educational system and among these technological applications is podcasting. This paper aims to discuss the facts of podcasting as an innovative technology to be integrated in the traditional style of learning (as well as education and teaching) among teachers and students of LIC. Specifically, it tackles how podcasting works and its benefits. Previous research studies and literatures probing the effectiveness of podcasting in education are used to reinforce the possibility and benefits of the process particularly among LIC teachers and students. Similarly, the group also incorporates personal reflection and evaluation of the process especially on the reason why they choose it.   What is Podcasting? Podcasting is simply a new technology that uses pre-recorded video or audio files delivered to a computer, cell phone or any mobile device. According to  (2005), it is considered as the “radio for the people” that provides a “narrowcasting” version of broadcast media. He added that the said technology refers to the automatic downloading of MP3 audio files to a computer and, in most cases, subsequently to a mobile MP3 player. In a white paper of published online by the University of  (2006), podcasting is a method of publishing audio files (usually MP3s) to the Web. This is made available by means of subscription and automatic downloading to a personal computer or any technologies that is compatible with the process (e.g. portable MP3 player). The word PODCASTING is a contraction of “iPod” and “broadcasting” (2006) as it combines both.   How does it work?             Today, iPods and podcasting represent a sizzling new use of technology in education (2006). Now, the big question is – how does it work?             It is identified that podcasting (publish/subscribe model of podcasting) involves Internet-based content delivery system or the so-called push technology, wherein information are delivered from a central server to a client computer set preconditioned with the required parameters to allow the transfer. Initially, the information source or the server selects what files are to be offered in a feed (push) and the subscriber chooses among the presented feed channels (pull). All files are required to be available over the Internet and accessible through some known Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) or a general-purpose web address. In general, podcasting is perceived to be similar to the basic procedures involved in any electronic transfer that requires the presence of server and receiver or client (See Appendix A).             Furthermore, podcasting maintains an automatic method in which multimedia computer files are transmitted from a server to a client. The client then “pulls” down XML files containing the Internet addresses of the media files which contain audio or video, as well as images, text, PDF, or any file type. This enables you to subscribe to podcasts. Most podcatcher software is free, and versions are available for Mac, Windows, Pocket PC, and Linux platforms. A current list of podcatcher software is available at Podcast Alley. </li>   <li class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; line-height: 200%"> Find and subscribe to podcasts by browsing podcast directories such as Podcast Alley, Indie Podder, and Podcast Bunker. Once you find a podcast, cut and paste its URL into the add feed section of your podcatcher software. </li>   <li class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; line-height: 200%"> Use the retrieve or download now function of your podcatcher to get the podcast. You can also configure your podcatcher to have it automatically download podcasts periodically. </li>   Correspondingly, both authors also provided a four-step process on how to create a podcast. To quote: <li class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; line-height: 200%"> Use an audio editing program to record your podcast. We use Audacity because it is free and can be used on Mac, Windows, or Linux machines.</li>   <li class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; line-height: 200%"> Upload your podcast in MP3 format to a Web server using an FTP program. Be sure to take note of the URL of where your MP3 file is stored. </li>   <li class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; line-height: 200%"> Create a Weblog. WordPress, LiveJournal, and Blogger are all free blog services. Once you have created your blog, paste the URL of your MP3 as an entry in your blog. Take note of the URL of your blog. </li>   <li class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; line-height: 200%"> Convert your blog URL into an RSS 2.0 feed with enclosures. This is easy with the help of Feed-burner. Once you get to the Web site, enter your blog URL and click “next”. Click the “smartcast” option and then click “next”. Feedburner will take you through the process of creating an account and deliver your completed podcasting feed. This is the URL you give to friends and register with podcasting directories. </li>   The Benefits of Podcasting             Podcasting has been used primarily for disseminating recorded lectures and discussions (2005). But there are other proven benefits of podcasting in education. Among these are the following:   Ease of use. While every student or youth on this contemporary generation is aware on how technology works, it is recognized that one of the benefits of podcasting especially in education is it s ease of use. (2006) state that the presence of hottest and most discussed new technologies like Apple’s iPod make students import, download, sync, share, and stream all kinds of files. Indeed, part of the appeal of podcasting is the ease with which audio content can be created, distributed, and downloaded from the Web. Podcasting offers educators a means to reach learners with a tool that can be much more than a music player (2006). In podcasting, files are audio-based and without graphics or video, so it is like listening to a next-generation cassette recorder (2006). Furthermore, sites such as Yahoo! Podcasts and the Education Podcast Network feature hundreds of education-related podcast programs that are available worldwide.   Cost- and time-effective. Podcasting delivers instruction without compromising learning effectiveness. Because it includes technologies that are readily available among students (e.g. computers and mobile technologies), it is said to be practical (2006;  2005). For instance, in a recent study of students in higher education in the United States ( 2005), 82% owned cell phones while less than 12% owned PDAs. The presence of such technologies specifically the portability of mobile devices enables the student to have immediate and free access to a podcast.  (2006) further explicate that mobile media can be just as easily utilized outside of the classroom as they can in it as learners can study or practice manageable chunks of information in any place on their own time, thereby taking advantage of their convenience. Also, Miller (2006) added that it is inexpensive because it uses push-based technologies that send files to individual users.   Other benefits. Podcast is a great way to augment current class instruction. Due to its abundance on the Web, a student is able to access related topics that will help him/her understand the lesson further. Fortunately, this medium has the ability to do more than record potentially monotonous lectures (2005). The presence of videos or images incorporated in a podcast makes the learning experience more entertaining and interesting. For example, podcasting usually integrates audio-dependent courses such as music and foreign languages. In application, music students have used podcasting to listen to, memorize, and critique classical music and eventually to share original musical works. The ability to distribute files in a large number of people is an outstanding feature of podcasting. Like for instance, foreign language teachers have shared native music, literature, and plays through podcasting. Students can also share their projects to co-students and eventually their teachers. Using podcasting technology, students even have an easy, inexpensive, and quick way to communicate with peers across the globe (2005). Podcasting can improve student achievement like other technologies. Jeanne Halderson, a teacher of young people at   School in   incorporated podcasting technology to her daily teaching situations (2005). She identified the three C’s of teaching: creativity, curiosity, and confidence present in podcasting. Using podcasting, a teacher is able to show his/her creativity in coming up with something unique using the technologies at hand. Because of the unique features of podcasting, the students develop a strong curiosity and free to explore new ways of learning and expression. Certainly, the result of teaching using podcasting technology strengthened and even increased the students’ confidence. All in all,  (2005) believe that podcasting is a new and rapidly developing technology. Its potential in the classroom is only limited by the resourcefulness and creativity of faculty, students, and administrators. With the given benefits of podcasting, there are also identified drawbacks that affect its overall applicability such as technical support limitations, copyright issues, bandwidth, Internet connections, production and presentation quality and others.   Why we choose it             We decided to choose podcasting and be implemented to the DeVry Institute of Technology (DIT) – LIC campus because we simply find a strong requirement of implementation and foreseen its potential beneficial consequences.  The technology is chosen due to the following reasons: <ul style="margin-top: 0in; margin-bottom: 0in" type="disc"> <li class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; line-height: 200%"> Students are experiencing difficulty and problems in understanding some of their lectures. With podcasting, the student will be given a chance to go over the lecture note over and over again and can access related podcasts over the Web that can augment his/her further understanding of the lesson. Time restrictions are eliminated.</li> <li class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; line-height: 200%"> Traditional classroom instruction is deemed to be monotonous and even be boring. Thus, using podcasting technology, students and teachers will change the mainstream learning experience making it more interactive, interesting, and entertaining without sacrificing the absorption of knowledge.</li> <li class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; line-height: 200%"> Since majority of the school’s population are familiar with the technology, podcasting can expand educational options easily.  It can provide short lessons, feedback and evaluation of lectures. Also. It is used in different ways like video, audio or mixed (e.g. PowerPoint and audio).</li> <li class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; line-height: 200%"> Podcasting is also inclusive as it encourages students to be participative in the production of podcasts. Now, the production of learning materials are not only limited to teachers as the students are given the chance to develop their creativity and share their personal know-how.</li> <li class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; line-height: 200%"> The technology of podcasting is relatively simple to install and very inexpensive because it does not require costly hardware. Not to mention, its ease of use and mobility is an advantage.</li> <li class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; line-height: 200%"> Lastly, the school needs to integrate podcasting technology to its educational system in order to go with the current trends in education – both teaching and learning. The involvement of students as well as teachers in such technologies develops their skills that will serve as competitive advantage in their future experiences. </li> </ul>   To end,  (2006) affirm that “as the iPod generation continues to drive market demand for digital media outside of the classroom, educators need to stay up on the latest technology trends”. Even if the school or any other organization is not ready to dive into such technologies, it is important to be prepared to embrace the latest on-demand technology when the right time comes.
