Criminal Mind
It has been reported that the Uniform Crime Reporting or UCR Program was envisioned in 1929 by the International Association of Chiefs of Police to meet the need for credible, standard crime statistics for the United States ( 2007). In 1930, the Federal Bureau of Investigation was given the task of gathering, publishing, and archiving the data it has collected. At present, a number of annual statistical publications are being produced from the data gathered by approximately 17,000 law enforcement agencies across the country ( 2007).
The following data shows the latest crime statistics according to the Uniform Crime Reports from the year 2002 up to present, per 100,000 population. The latest data listed is the data from the year 2005.
