You will be required to undertake a Human Resource Needs Investigation / Training Needs Analysis within an organisation of your choice and develop an appropriate training program to address the training needs you have identified.
This assignment is designed to test your understanding of foundation HRM and HRD concepts, your grasp of the literature, your capacity to analyse and apply this understanding, and your ability to persuasively argue a point of view. You are expected to read a variety of sources (texts, journals, newspapers, etc.), draw on your own or others? Experience where appropriate and fully justify yours and others? Views using illustrative examples and supporting evidence. You will be required to undertake sound research using a variety of data collection techniques, conduct a HRDNI and develop an appropriate training program or a non training intervention.
You will need to have access to an organisaton. Your task is to make an assessment of the training, development and learning needs in this organization, design a program that will assess these needs and identify a process for evaluation. Specifically, you will need to do the following:
² Undertake a needs investigation/assessment for one section or level of the organisation (please not you are not required to undertake a complex, organisation-wide analysis but rather, focus on a small group or division within an organisation). The HRDNI/TNA process must include a description of the organisation by industry, size and customer profile. You must include a discussion of the training needs identification? What first brought the issue to your attention?
² You will be expect to develop an approach and methods for undertaking the analysis and explain your rationale. At least one interview and one questionnaire must be developed and utilized. Interview transcripts and collated results must be included in the Appendix.
² Design a program of training, or a program of development and learning opportunities/interventions that will address this need. You do not need to develop a program session-by-session, but rather, you should identify broad activities for your proposed program.
² Identify a framework for evaluation. What models, methodology and question would you recommend for evaluation the program to determine its effectiveness in terms of the needs you have identified?
² Cost the solution/intervention/training.

You will be assessed on your ability to present ideas and recommendations in a clear and logical framework; the extent to which you support your rationale with links to both theory and practice; and the practicality of your recommendations in terms of time, cost and resources available.
