One of the primary characteristics of the current population of Australia is that they are becoming more aware of different issues that are happening in their countries as well as the world by voluntarily joining different non-governmental or governmental organizations that caters to the different issues regarding the environment, human rights and other issues regarding the country and the world. According to the statistics, there are about 1,219,051 male volunteers, 1,631,944 female volunteers, with a total of 2,850,995 volunteers. The statistics comes from ages 15 – over 85. The said number of people is doing different unpaid activities and tasks for the sake of their respective organization. The said characteristics shows that those companies who are implementing their own corporate social responsibilities can have their competitive edge than those who are not.
In terms of population, the number of female had outnumbered the population of the male. There are about 10,056,039 females and 9,799,288 males. The said number of population according to gender can greatly affect the sociological issue of the country. In addition to that, in terms of the employment, the male still handles the largest number of employed person in general. In the commonwealth government, there are 189,965 males and 178,052 females; in the state/territory government, there are 308,967 males and 501,427 females; in local government, there are 77,321 males and 58,520 females; and in the private sector, there are 4,267,682 males and 3,400,528 females. In all of the said categories, male had outnumbered the female. The total number of the female who are entering the labor force is somewhat high compare to the census of the country during 2001, garnering a total of 3,751,823. The said statistic shows that more and more women have their own money to spend. The said statistic shows that more and more women are thinking that they can do whatever men can do. It means that business that makes the women feel that they are as strong as men will be feasible such as gym, motorcycles, car and other sports related businesses. On the other hand, businesses like spa, parlor and other self-pampering business will also be feasible, due to the fact that women have their own money to spend for their whims and caprices.
On the other hand, In terms of the population, the proportion of the children population aged 0-14 had decrease in slight manner. The said number shows that the country is having a problem in terms of their fertility rate. The number of population of 0 – 4 years group had decreased from 6.6% of the total population in 2001, up to the 6.3% of the overall population of 2006. The said situation shows that different baby products and baby stores will not be that feasible in the country due to the small size of the possible market. On the other hand, the huge increase to the population of ages 55 – 64, from 9.4% to 11.0% of the total population will help businesses in the healthcare services such as hospitals, clinic, care giving centers as well as different medicinal companies.
Above all, the increasing number of never married Australian, 31.6% to 33.2% can affect the housing industry. This is due to the fact that they will prefer to rent than to buy their own. It will also affect the appliance industry due to the fact that most of the customer will prefer handy and small sizes tools, gadgets and appliances.
