With the evident proliferation of reality television (TV) shows, a proposal for a new TV program that combines all the elements of reality TV, which caught the attention of viewers worldwide, would be tackled in this discourse.
The Show
Live My Life is a reality TV show that is satirically funny and educational at the same time. It would examine the profession, daily activities, and the lives in general of ordinary people which we have taken for granted, or which we are not actually aware of. For example, people such as street cleaners, firefighters, or cartoonists are individuals who we know are always present to assist us with our needs and wants. However, it is a fact that we actually have not taken the time, or the interest, to really get to know these people—why they chose their profession; how they go about their lives before, during, and after work; and the like.
On the other hand, did you know that there are actually people who are hired to smell the armpits of other people to help make deodorants that are more effective (, 2006)? Or are you aware that the La-z-Boy Company, as well as other organizations such as this, employs people to try out their relaxing pieces of furniture, all day (, 2006)? Live My Life would not include people with typical and normal jobs, but other people whose occupations may be absurd or something we may never have heard before. Who knows, maybe the next people to be included in the show are the X-Men themselves in all their secretive and mysterious glory.
The show would go as such: everyday, program would feature at least two people, who would be constantly followed by cameras so that the viewers would see their daily routine, from the moment they wake up to the moment they go home and sleep. It would indeed be truly interesting to find out how people with a diverse—and even odd—nature of work survive their everyday lives. And with the help of a host-cum-interviewer with Brad Pitt-like appeal, and Ashton Kutcher-like personality, and Borat-like innocently crude humor, this reality TV show would surely be a hit.
Schedule and Target Audience
Live My Life would cater to the viewing requirements of teenagers and adults alike. Since the show is planned to be an educational and realty show with a twist, it would surely catch the attention of viewers who belong to a wide range of ages. The TV program is proposed to air during weekends, at around 9 or 10 in the evening. This way, teenagers and adults would still probably be awake during these hours, while young children would be sheltered from possible offensive behaviors and mature scenes. Lastly, the target TV channel would be CBS for it caters to reality shows such as Big Brother, Amazing Race, and Rock Star INXS.
