MANAGING THE CHANGE PROCESS IN AN ORGANIZATION
In every organization there will always be changes and incidents that may occur whether we like it or not some changes are unpredictable and constantly rising in times we never expect. That is why management should be vigilant and ready to take action upon the changes that may occur. These changes may create a positive or negative impact in an organization which cannot be prevented or depending on the case that can be sometimes given solution on the side of the management and organization that they belong. Most importantly management must face the changes whatever it may seem.
Some changes may worsen and irritate the situations of the organization that might cause a decline in sales or company motivational changes, while some changes can increase performance which is highly acceptable, something like a reward or bonus or maybe an expansion and increase in revenue. Whatever changes that may favor the company is celebrated however changes or downfall should be a significant reminder to work things out and improve more or plan ahead in time.
I would like to show a personal experience about basic and major changes that happens in the organization where I have been, these changes taught me a lesson that life is not at all free from trouble no matter how careful you may seems. I have chosen to write this because these are real changes that are bound to happen in most companies. The struggle and hardship that seems insurmountable ended up on a twist of fate and a change of position of the company.
I worked as a Teacher in a Non Government Organization called the “Pilgrim Outreach Skills Program’ (POSP) we come to isolated and grassroots community to serve the poor to educate them basic skills and ideas that was given free, we gain funds thru company sponsorship and grants. There was once an incident that one of my co-teacher has been caught soliciting funds for members and students of the organization that brought forth a sudden change in member’s trust and respect where they expected free education suddenly they were charges in their studies, this result in lack of enrollee during the next semester. This is quiet a human violation that cause changes in the organization, after the incidents, the board decided to replace the corrupt teacher to regain the respect of its enrollees that is quiet satisfactory for the student and this has resolve the issue of corruption.
The organization done well during the next semester until the changes in natural phenomenon occurred. A heavy rain flooded and drowns the rice-field together with the small establishment which we are located and there were no place to evacuate, for several weeks we are not having classes and most students are asking about where and when we will meet. The board decided to ask the help of the municipality and they were quick to respond to give the public gymnasium as a temporary place to use.
Again the operation has become normal, but suddenly a change of mayoralty and political affluence takes us further to look for another space as a classroom. Good thing that a Chinese trader would volunteer to use their old big home since they are going back to China. The political changes have brought us another challenge that we almost could not get into.
Another changes in Economic downtrend occurs when the establishments was provoked to be illegally solicited by business and government organization and the cost of living would soon be found rising in that area, for us to be able to stay on that location should supply a legal documents for this will become a business place and a good location for entrepreneurs. The POSP management has not done anything about it since the Chinese traders cannot be contacted in any ways. There was an immediate meeting of the board to end up the organization and divide the funds for all members and employees but most of the members would not allow such a weakening proposition of delusion that contribute heavily to the sudden misfortune, a more humiliating changes and idea.
Management immediate attention has brought to re orientation of changes or shift in business is the only and the best solution that we can do to take away the grievances among members, and so it was. The shift in business from an NGO suddenly becomes a computer organization of a private small firm is now established and still growing. The company has become a group of experts in the field of consultancy and production and it has been successful during the start until the present.
The present changes are expected to arise but the organization has familiarized and ready for it. As long as there are management experts and there is cooperation and team work there will always be a solution to every changes in pace of business. I hope these management qualities would continue and never change.
